We have had a great start to Spring in Junior Club!

Thursdays have grown this term, despite having transitioned our Year Sixes to the Youth Club. We have had new members almost every week lately and now have thirty on our register. We are very grateful to Dennis who has taken over football coaching with the lively group of boys, training them to be fitter and to work as a team. The girls also have their own session too. We have provided high-quality art and craft activities, as well as other fun activities, including shaving foam art which you can see here.

On Tuesdays we have been running themed clubs for small groups. The first was a Cookery Club where we cooked a two course meal each week. Main courses were shepherds’ pie, sausage casserole, pizza, chicken curry, and desserts were traditional trifle, pear crumble and chocolate muffins with soft chocolate centres for desserts. On the last week we invited parents to join us and served them two of the delicious dishes we had practised.

Lego Club took place last half term, and we are extremely grateful to Thomas’ School Foundation for donating numerous boxes of Lego! Eight children enjoyed new tasks each week, including starters like what can you make blindfold in ten minutes? Can you write your name in Lego? The main tasks were making a boat, a spaceship, a tall tower and a mythical creature.

We will be taking a group of nine juniors to East Shallowford Farm for a residential during the Easter Holiday where they will experience lambing as well as other rural activities.

SUMMER TERM: Thursdays will continue as usual as an open club. On Tuesdays from 23 April we will start Carpentry Workshops for 8 children, with our resident carpenter, Phil. After half term we will run an Art Club with Agora Arts. Both sessions will begin with a thirty minute gardening session in our own garden. If you would like your child to take part in these workshops, get their name down quickly as places are limited.

All our clubs finish with a Christian story from the Bible which children readily engage in.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR SUNDAY FIRST ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH WHERE FAMILIES AND PEOPLE OF ALL AGES JOIN TOGETHER TO CONNECT TO GOD, AND ENJOY A MEAL WITH EACH OTHER AT THE END. 3-5pm. ALL WELCOME On behalf of the Junior Team, may we wish you a happy and blessed Easter. Sue, Denis, Susan, Maryam, Nicole, Mario and Joy.
