Over the past few months Providence House has been supporting young people to nurture and protect their physical and mental health.
In partnership with Caius House we have run two virtual walking groups from Lands End to John O Groats and the Tower of London to the Eiffel Tower, engaging 12 girls ages 13-24, this involved each girl having their own fitness watch in order to track their steps and contribute to the group distance.
We also hosted virtual group and 1-1 support sessions with various health professionals and some outdoor trips and walks together to support and motivate one another.
Our Under 21s football team has also been able to regroup having kept in touch via zoom during lockdown and is now able to play matches again together. It’s clear how much access to sport means to them and how it influences their overall health and wellbeing. We are routing for them to win the league.
Over the Easter Holidays we were also supported by Waste Not Want Not Battersea to provide healthy meals to over 50 children and young people as well as ‘Make your own’ Pizza packs for families to do at home together. Waste Not Want Not Battersea continue to provide regular food sharing opportunities for the local community to reduce waste.
With thanks to Wandsworth Council for their financial support, our delivery partners Caius House and Waste Not Want Not Battersea and the Providence House Team for staying together and being here through the tough time to support the health and wellbeing of local children and young people.
We are looking forward to reuniting with everyone with a fun summer programme.
